Sweet Dream - Day 45 February 26, 2019

This day was the best in Galapagos. We took a tour in a nice power boat with only a dozen people onboard. First, we enjoyed the birds...terns, frigates, boobies, pelicans, then there were sea turtles everywhere. We arrived at Tortuga, went ashore in the dinghy and had a fabulous walk across the lava fields. We saw mocking birds, small green snakes, herons, blue footed boobies and goat skeletons! It was fascinating to be in such a desert landscape right next to the sea. Next the boat took us to the most pristine white, sugar sand beach. We swam , cartwheeled on the sand, watched the birds feeding then swam back to the boat in the pouring rain. The sun came out, the sky was blue, and Hugo fed us the most amazing meal as we enjoyed giant rays drifting under the boat and schools of fish swimming by. Such a gorgeous experience! Next we motored to Kicker Rock. Most of the folks snorkelled. I made videos of frigate birds, took a nap, and was fed chocolate cake and fresh pineapple. My absolute favourite part of the Galapagos culture is their kindness in always offering us delicious food and water! The snorkelers returned with tales of black tip, white tip, Galapagos sharks, rays, fish and frolicking sea lions, we motored back in zero visibility pouring rain, and had a little happy hour with Sarah, a lovely Dutch lady and her dad that had been on the tour with us. We led up our bedding all wrapped in big bags and up our “ house” back together and enjoyed a delicious dinner of Dave’s handiwork with the grill of steak, cob corn and grilled vegetables. The Sweet Dream was returning!
