Epiphany - Preparation day

It’s our final day in Bermuda. Last minute washing and the skippers briefing. Light winds are forecast for the first few days and then a lot of uncertainty in the weather. Despite this we are still planning to go, the forecasts are never certain and we will head out and make the best of it. When the weather settles we can then make adjustments as we go to find the best way. So we will start with a great circle route course (68T) and motor if needed for a few days. We have 7 days or about 1000km of motoring ability so we can go quite a long way and still have lots of safety fuel.

In terms of preparation it’s now my 5th ocean passage so I’m feeling quite comfortable getting everything ready and provisioning. We have lots of onions, squash and cabbage which keep really well into week 2 to liven up the tinned veggies. We have been on anchor the last few days so unable to fill with water and charge the batteries but since we expect to motor a bit we can top up on the way. Otherwise the boat is ready and we are all busy downloading Netflix series before we lose free internet!

Bermuda has been a lovely place. Wish we could have stayed longer and I’ll for sure try to come back one day. We will have a last meal out tonight and then pack the dinghy away to be fully ready for tomorrow.
