Escapade - Day 6-8 Great Sailing

In the past 3 days we have minimally needed engine assistance. We are currently flying the Parasailor with light winds coming from directly behind us. About an hour ago a little finch landed on the boat. We are over 300 miles from land. He has become quite curious and is in the middle of touring the entire boat at the moment. Yesterday we caught 2 more dolphin, so will eat fresh fish for dinner again. Pictured are Dietmar and Jim with their fish.IMG_4324 IMG_4319. read more...

Escapade - Day 3 - survived the storms

Discovering we had no gas getting to the oven, we opted to cook our lasagna in the grill.Dietmar finally lights the pilot in 29 knot winds under the backdrop of a nasty storm…one we hoped to avoid but did not.Not long after the grill was lit, the storm caught up and raged for hours with winds over 35 knots, heavy rain, and lightening all around. When it finally passed over we would find ourselves trying to dodge the worst of several storms throughout the night.Thank goodness the skies cleared up by noon today. All in all, we faired well, but lost our wind meter.IMG_4305. read more...
