Nakesa - 10 December - the end is nigh

N14.48.000 W57.35.000

Nakesa was reported to be some 150M off the St. Lucian coast this morning, making around 8knots, still limping under Genoa alone, she is however sailing under beautiful blue skies and a rising temperature of 28 celcius.

It was very clear that the end was in sight as the leg of Jamon Iberico is now nothing more than a deformed looking set of bones, the crew are still thanking Cortes Ingles supermarket for their error in meat deliveries.

Our reporter on the ground had said

“you can see the preperations for the celebration of arrival are clearly underway. There is a string of washing running pretty much the entire guard rail, port and starboard (Applin of course frowning at this).

The Children, Atlanta (9yrs) and Aston (11yrs) even made it out on deck last night, this was a fantastic sight to behold, they are looking healthy and commented “we have been treated well and conditions down below are good”

We are hoping to get an exclusive with the junior Applin’s once docked in St Lucia, a first hand experience of their ordeal (i mean experience). Meanwhile Phaedra is looking in high spirits, clearly a bag of fillet steaks could be seen on deck thawing in the sunshine. Toenail paint was out and the ultra cool RayBans are now a permanent fixture. She commented, very simply.. “im ready to get there now”

Scott however, nicknamed “auto helm” by his fellow crew, has been producing superhuman efforts at the helm, hand steering for the entire time Hunt was keel stepped, he has biceps like melons now and is ready to be reunited with his wife Jennifer, who we have received word is already relaxing by the pool in St Lucia with a pinocolade, fighting away the locals...watch out Guys, when Scott appears, bronzed and beefy, there will be no room at the inn....

And Hunt, of course we know a bit about his ordeal but had managed to secure a one to one with him in his final days before hitting land (well hopefully not actually hitting it)  “The experience has been enrichening, we have now safely navigated our way some 3000M across (and down a bit) the Atlantic ocean. I think everyone has got what they signed up for and are all very grateful to the ARC organisers for creating an event of camaraderie (oh and competition of course!) for sailing enthusiasts”.... (plug over...)   He continued...”with 150M to go, i guess we shouldn’t let complacency set in now so i am required back on the bridge” his ultra professionalism is astounding sometimes... (autobiographically written of course)

Revellers in St Lucia have been warned to stay indoors when the S/Y Nakesa finally reaches Rodney Bay, it is believed that they will hit the streets with a vengeance. The warning is in place until Scott and Hunt are shipped out on the 14th. However, dont expect the party to stop then, the Applins will still be loose on the island...
