SAILING NEWS.......

We are still feeling a little frustrated as we are currently moving slowly in a SW direction towards north of the Cape Verde Islands where we hope to pass in the early hours of tomorrow morning - based on our current boats Speed Over Ground (SOG).

We are all eating and hydrating well. We have now opened a second bottle of sun tan lotion!!!

The lower in latitude we go, the hotter it gets. Last night in particular was very warm and clammy through the night with only a light tee shirt and shorts worn on deck with our life vests. The temperature in the cabin today is 32 degrees Celsius and thats with most deck windows and port holes open including a few small ventilating fans running in order to keep air flowing. The temp outside is 36 degrees and sunny with some cirrus clouds. Darren T took a sea temperature today of 27 degrees Celsius!!!

Marine life was a bit scarce: During last night - saw just one shark, landed one flying fish which disobeyed air traffic control instructions to stay off our yacht and was promptly returned to the deep. We were also joined by dolphins again during the night - no chat this time just guiding us on our steady way.

CREW LATEST.......

COLM B........Tactically STILL head scratching his head but all of us are slowly starting to believe him!!!

Darren T........Gels his hair daily girls!!!

Darren W........togged out for tanning on deck and getting there!!!

David W........Goatee going well and getting frustrated that we STILL have not caught any fish, even though we have two small 50lb lures trailing Fenix!!!

JOE C.......Goatee also going well. Has been wrongly blamed by the Wrighteous Bros for a small clog in the aft head this morning!!! Supposedly, ALL aft cabinees been put on a strict fibre diet for a few days!!!

JOHNNY W.......Beard IS now longer than the hair on his head!!! Now has an upside down head!!!

KIERAN J......Our main sail trimming and tweaking man and a damn fine job he is doing too!!! Loves his rest between the watches!!!

MORITZ B.......MacGyver still coming up with all sorts of snap blocks and barbour haulers in order that chaffing of sheets (ropes) do not occur!!!

WILL M.......Now that Steinlager II is in a hole - the accusations have temporally stopped!!! The tan is coming along nicely!!!

COMING SOON:

1. A POSSIBLE MAJOR tactical decision (Can't divulge any proposed tactics as we believe that EVEN the opposition and their mates maybe reading this blog!!! Paranoia is slowly setting in but promise to tell you even if it works or not!!!)

2. Story(s) of the day

TOMORROW'S BLOG: Watch Systems......what it's like for crew to sail, cook and rest on board our 60 foot yacht Fenix as we race across the Atlantic.

and Finally........many thanks to Colm B's friend Stewart Mellor for the welcomed assistance with our comms updates.

Best wishes,

Will M
