4th Blog from S/Y Fenix log in the ARC 2010.
SAILING NEWS.......We are all in much better form today after the frustration of been becalmed yesterday. We are currently moving steadily in a SW direction towards the Cape Verde Islands where we hope to pass tomorrow. (Watch this space.......MAJOR tactical decision looming!!!!) Yesterday, we initially thought it was just ourselves and a few other yachts that were in the 'hole' only to find out later that lots of other yachts and most of our competition were all in the ever increasing 'hole' as well. Yahoo!!!
It should be noted that we are in the Invitation Racing division of this ARC 2010 and our position on the Fleet Viewer does not truly reflect our position on the route as there are other Racing divisions that started this race before us including some Motor Cruisers that are motoring over at speed to St Lucia.
HYDRATION........We are all hydrating well (h2o + other non alcoholic beverages)and we are all putting on our lotion, as instructed. We also each have an allowance of ONLY one alcholic drink in our Happy Half Hour each evening at 1930hrs. Some light music is also allowed during this half hour. This also excludes our customary glass of wine (one only) each evenng with our main meal.
SUN TAN LOTION update.......Crew's lotion nearly gone. May need to open a second bottle!!!
MARINE SPECIES WATCH.......We saw our first shark today at 1030hrs.....albeit a small one on his way east. Dave W wanted to dive in after it but was held back!!!

COLM B........Tactically still head scratching as to how a small weather 'hole' became such a big weather 'hole' and becal,ed most of the fleet yesterday!!!
Darren T........"Lads, I honestly don't snore".......We now have video proof from his bunk!!!
Darren W........will be signing up for Master Chef on the BBC when he gets back, as his galley skills are brill!!!
David W........The joker in the pack just keeps us going with funny stories. Hope you never
bought insurance off him years ago!!!!
JOE C.......now has serious competition in the 'goatee' department with Dave W - who arrived up on deck today sporting a goatee after deciding that a beard did not suit him!!!
JOHNNY W.......now has a beard longer than his hair on his head!!! Also he did not take his bikini bra off in time as white straps have now appeared!!!
KIERAN J......Cool as ever and now sporting a tan!!!
MORITZ B.......Our MacGyver has snap blocks here and barbour haulers there!!! Tweaker and dessert maestro!!!
WILL M.......has been accused of been a 'stealth spy' for one of our competitors - Steinlager II. He strenously denies this!!!
