Disco Inferno 3 - Day 3 - Slow morning

Boat Position: 20 27.6N 19 43.5W
Boat Time: 1138
Heading: 196
Wind Speed: 2.5knots
Wind Direction: 083
Boat Speed: 1.1knots
Sail Configuration: Full Mainsail & Masthead Spinnaker
Miles to StLucia: 2389

The helmsmen are doing a great job.  The wind was down to about 10 knots at 6pm yesterday so we changed to the masthead spinnaker giving us an extra 60m2 of sail, around 6am this morning it had dropped off to 7knots and since 9am it's been between 2 - 6 knots.  Surprisingly the speed has only once reached 0knots, now Martyn has both the slowest and fastest speed!  The guys are all very keen to keep moving and are all out there tweaking the pole, sheet and helping the helmsman which is really good to see.  With no wind it's incredibly hot in the sun.

I made sausage sandwiches for breakfast which disappeared at high speed.  I've put some beers in the fridge for tonight as a treat for getting through today, we aren't expecting to get anymore breeze until later this afternoon, so we need to keep spirits high.

Matt saw a splash of a whale yesterday and I saw one this morning, but both were too far away to see them again.

We also have had a butterfly and bird flying round this morning, we are 150miles from the coast of Africa and about 300miles from the Cape Verde Islands.

Everyone is looking a little tanned already, it's still quite cool inside the boat so you can still comfortably read a book in the saloon, although everyone is outside sunning themselves this morning.

Thats all from us for now, thanks for stopping by & stay classy!
Lizzie
