Bonobo - DARTMOUTH - WEST AFRICAN COAST - WEDNESDAY 24 NOV/0900

Good morning all you Bonobo supporters.  We’re getting into a rhythm out here.  The weather is just fantastic, since we left Las Palmas, we have had clear blue skies and wall to wall sunshine during the day, and clear skies with a full moon at night, which has made our night navigation very easy.  Spectacular sunsets and sunrises.  We are currently sailing down the West African coast, some 38 miles off Mauritania, and approaching Senegal, on our way down to the Cape Verde Islands.  The sailing so far has been very civilised, and reasonably comfortable, covering 150 miles yesterday.  However, as predicted, we have lost the wind this morning which is slowing our progress more than we we would wish, and we suspect that our next couple of days could be slow.

Previously well hidden culinary skills are coming to the surface.  Last night, David & Peter cooked a tasty chilli con carne, followed by fresh fruit salad, and the previous night Simon and Richard conjured up a wonderful cous cous/chicken dish with apricots and other undisclosed ingredients  None of us have had a shower since Sunday, and in the hot weather, with no prospect of a shower until next week, we have created our own version of the humming chorus, which is succeeding in repelling unwanted visitors and frightening the wildlife. but the crew are oblivious.

A fishing line is now hanging from the stern.  We are not quite sure what this is for [boy’s toys?] as nothing has been caught yet [except the one that “got away”?] .  Must tell David to move his white van out of the cockpit.

On the wildlife front, more dolphins joined us last night.  BREAKING NEWS!  6 Pilot Whales spotted at breakfast this morning, about 100 m from the yacht.  More details follow in next [b]log.
