We continued our quest to be the first boat
to land in Mauretania and then decide to head for St Lucia.
Had a delightful close encounter with S/Y Absolare who were taking no chances by
lighting everything up on deck so that we missed her. Must have known of
our round the cans "knocks and scrapes" reputation...Nick decided to have us
watch Master and Commander obviously as part of some crew
training/inspiration programme. No prizes for which role Nick was being
inspired....Not all of us made it to the end. Gwylan (Charles Manby) then
started an evening of radio taunts of positions (they seem to be ahead of us),
drinks (they are, we are not!) and fine dining (fresh tuna vs an
excellent pasta dish prepared by Matt and Narni). Alan and I left the
"bad" watch in the hands of Patrick and Nick who proceeded to put more sail
up!! We have fixed the chute but with only one good halyard left we are
saving it for lighter airs when we may need it. Currently enjoying a
much more comfortable swell, 16 - 18 knots of breeze and boat speed of 8
knots. In amongst this, Matthew went fishing and within 30 mins had a
strike. Unfortunately for our dining bragging rights it was
a Marlin!! It came alongside just to confirm that it wasnt
coming aboard. So, Gwylan, if you see it, can you ask for our pink
lure back as it was Matthew's favourite!
