Victory Too - Busy Monday morning

091123
First full day at sea provided good sailing with 8,5 knots average speed. The morning provided some excitement since the outhaul for the main sail gave away at 05:15 am. Since we were sailing downwind, this meant the sail was clinging on to the rig in 25-30 knots of wind. All hands on deck resulted in 15 minutes later we were on our way again with all sails in order. We had to use the engine for 15 minutes, which gives some penalty, but was well worth it to be able to save the main sail. The only casualty from this accident was small squid, found dead on deck.Things are getting settled. We are getting used to the pace of the swinging. It?s easier to sleep and the crew are in very good spirits and excited being outside the coast of Africa on our way to St Lucia. ARC participant 129 Trippwire crossed our path and we had a small chat over VHF. We both promised to keep the beer cold for the ones who arrives the latest. We've seen two other yachts in the distance during the day Monday. The night towards Tuesday was a steady COG 8 knot night. We woke up to the smell from freshly baked bread for breakfast. Routines are forming.
