8am, all on deck after a starboard gybe, fishing lines just going out! 172 miles behind us since start 19 hours ago. Steady NE, gusting to 30kts at 6am. Not a lot of sleep, as we all start to settle into a routine, learn more about the boat and start to feel more comfortable.
We had a great start called by Geoff and were well placed towards the front of the fleet in light winds as we left Las Palmas behind us. Pan Pan at 5am as a yacht 20 miles behind us lost its rudder.
So, our first day at sea - Annie and I can't use the cucumbers for the bags under our eyes, that will have to wait until we get closer to St Lucia and we know we won't starve!
