Navasana - Day 6 Fishy fish fish!

We woke up to a BEAUTIFUL morning only to realize we were being headed off our planned course by miles! After a quick gybe and a shake out of our nightly reef we decided it was time to finally drop in our fishing lines.

Just as we was wondering what we should eat for lunch we see some chomping at one of our lines and right enough…. A nice mahi mahi was hooked!! We reeled it in and we all prepared for a swift cleanup job - fish blood and brand new Nautitech gel coat are not really the best of friends. However, thanks to some great research from Chet, Sardinian vodka poured in the gills really gets the fish happy and calm. No blood needed 🐟Let’s just say we celebrated with a top quality Verdejo and some fresh ceviche and guacamole for lunch. Looks like this passage is finally shaping up to be the cocktail sailing we imagined.

Dan

Dan’s fresh Ceviche was amazing, especially mixed with guacamole Kia club style. Hoping we catch more fish over the next few days as we salivate over fish tacos, fish curry and sushi! We caught 10 fish on my Pacific crossing so very hopeful!

We also took the time to optimize our preventer today. To make it easier to put on we spliced a longer dyneema strop with a dyneema cover to attach the preventer to the boom. Lucky we did this because the shackle on the block leading the preventer back to the cockpit broke and we were able to reuse the Antal ring from the old strop to replace the block and make it dyneema strong 💪 Watermaker made 200 litres at 100% output today, so glad it is back to normal. Great trade wind sailing today in 12-18 knots, this is what we came for!
