Into The Mystic - Day 3 was a big day

Wait, Could it be we are actually sailing? Yes we are. But let’s back up for a moment. So around 2pm UTC (GMT) we had 2 Mahi Mahi on the line. We successfully brought them both in. We sat down for lunch about 30 mins later and guess what? We had a big Tuna and another Mahi!!!! The lines were tangled but somehow we managed to successfully bring them both on board, too. I let the little Mahi go as we were still filleting the previous two. But bless him he will only have one eye. I played a game of Tetris by reconfiguring the freezer space to allow for the Mahi to go in. Food is abundant on this ship, not least due to the fact that most things I had to order in Killos and as an American I wouldn’t say that is my preferred measurement. Anyways, Google said a kilo is about 5 apples which is complete nonsense and I have about 50 limes to prove that and about 35 apples!

Ok now for the even the more exciting bit. We have wind…..Hooray! About 16:00 UTC the wind filled into 11 knots so after carving up our third fish, and the most important our beautiful tuna. We washed our hands and all headed on deck to put up my favourite sail the Asymmetrical spinnaker (a light downwind sail). We are currently doing 9 knots which is much faster then we can motor at. The boat is slightly heeled over and making the beautiful vibration noise she makes when she really goes. We did have to go slightly off our course to get the best wind angle but will correct that in the morning when we can put a jibe in. Anyways hope everyone is doing well. I hope we don’t fall too far behind the pack either but to be honest we never thought we be above 50th place, ever! Long may it continue but most importantly we just want a safe and happy crossing.
Thanks for reading,
Into the Mystic crew
