Sweet Dream - Day 58 March 12, 2019

Another grey morning with no proper sunrise, just thick clouds across the entire sky. At daylight Captain shook out the reef in the sails, which through out the 22 knot wind gusts of the night proved to have been quite useful, and we heeled over and took off like a shot. No gentle cruising today. Our hull speed is 8.7, we were hitting 10 knots of speed over ground as we surfed the following waves! Halfway through the morning the sun made a short appearance in a small patch of blue. This heartened our spirits immensely. Captain re rigged the fishing lines and put them out, but there were no takers. Lunch was a bowl of fresh veggies made up into a gazpacho cold soup, quite yummy and refreshing in the relentless heat. We are very thankful for the crazy “conservatory” around our cockpit that provides much needed shade from the tropical sun, and the clear plastic that can be fastened down to keep out rain, yet left open on the leeward side for ventilation. It looks funny, and probably slows us down a bit, but the trade off in creature comfort is more than worth it. We may not be a fast Dream, but we are a Sweet Dream.
