Bula this is what all the folks of Fiji greet you with, we have been made to feel so welcome in Fiji. We never appreciated how huge Fiji was until we got here.
We are on a free cruising period right now and Chris & I sailed onto one of the most Eastern islands called Tavi Uni we stopped off at a wonderful anchorage called Paradise at the southern end and celebrated my birthday with a Fijian feast and more Cava! Don’t think it will catch on though!
Our cruising path has taken us north of the island of Vitu Levu through the numerous reefs mostly well charted in our Navionics charts but some of our fellow WARC sailors have not had such up to date charts and navigating in these parts is not for the faint hearted. We have never placed so many way points on short journeys there are reefs everywhere! We have started looking at satellite pictures prior to plan our route as well just to double check and avoid any hidden surprises. One lovely surprise in Fiji in the town of Savu Savu was Fiji meats who sell Danish bacon now that was a real treat!
We are now enjoying the Yasawa group on the western flank of Fiji, a few resorts but mostly undeveloped, crystal clear waters, great snorkelling and beautiful scenery with white sand beaches everywhere here looks like a holiday brochure! So now we are heading for Musket Cove and the rendezvous before we depart for Vanuatu and the island of Tanna which its very own active volcano!
