Spirit of Lusitania - Log Day 17
Log Day 17 - 06 December
During this crossing, what do you do when you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing? This question was posed to the crew of Spirit of Lusitania.
Augusto - "I race cars. I have several fast ones, and a very fine pit crew to help me along. However, with the movement of the boat my steering has become very difficult. I suddenly find myself screeching into a sharp turn just at the wrong moment, and disaster strikes. I am afraid my international driving reputation is not improving as a result, and wrecking my garage will cost me a fortune".
Mark - "I fish. My day starts by cleaning the flying fish that land on deck. But mostly I like to catch big fish just at sundown. It is best if the boat is moving about 8 knots, the seas are high and we have pole out sailing wing-on-wing, just as the crew are fixing dinner. This allows everyone to get in on the action and have fun. Sails go flogging, food goes flying, it is humanly impossible to move in other than a prone position. Great fun for all."
Simao - "I lead an intrepid troop of WWII soldiers, moving far behind enemy lines to cut off power and disable bridges. I am hoping to be promoted to Major soon… I think I deserve it. After all, I did take out that supply bridge single-handedly."
Patrick - "I practice guitar and am getting ready for my first concert. I am learning new chords and a few new finger-pick routines off my ipad. My first piece will be Where Have All The Flowers Gone. Tickets go on sale this week."
Scott - "I have been saving the Earth. Waves of aliens have been turned back by my squad and I - but we are ever vigilant. We suspicion a full-scale attack is coming just before St Lucia, but do not fear… we are ready".
As can be seen, one of the significant marine activities aboard Spirit of Lusitania is - charging laptops and iPads.
