Salamander - Showers

We have devised a rota system for the shower so that we can all benefit from a regular wash down. The first shower rota was Tim, Andy and Clive. Not all together in the altogether you understand!! We each took turns to strip off and sit in the shower. Standing being highly inappropriate in a heavy swell in the Atlantic, or any other location come to that. As the water has been through the desalination unit it is very soft so not much soap and shower gel is required.

A couple of things to note. Make sure the waste water pump is running! The joy of having a shower might distract you and you'd very quickly be awash throughout the cabin. Keep the water temperature down so as to avoid too much steam and subsequent condensation everywhere, not good on a boat. Remember to turn off the waste water pump when not in use as it drains power quickly. Use the squeegee to wipe down the walls (not the floor) ready for the next man.

Observations: showering itself is relatively quick, the clearing up afterwards takes time. Drying in a moving boat is an art, particularly if you are trying not to make everything else wet. The clean smell is very noticeable amongst the unclean crew who have yet to shower!! I suspect this means we are a pretty stinky bunch all told!

Second rota on the next day was Ralph, Fred and Alan. Some of whom took the opportunity to do their laundry at the same time! Little tricks that I'm sure I will adopt.

I think without exception we all did our exercises after our shower which clearly needs a bit of time management! Oh well, next time!
