Lomvi - Day 7 - Need for speed

Dear fellow species,

Day 7 would mark the one week on the ocean if the counting of days would make sense. But believe it or not, we still have one day left before we cross the one week mark. Maybe time and space is relative after all.

Regardless of quantum physics things are staring to improve here on the caravan heading west. The ocean is much calmer, and we have a steady breeze of 9 to 13 m/s. Currently genoa and half main wing on wing. With a 6+ knots average.

Why the heckerouiny are we going this fast? It's a mix of reasons.

First, we discovered that we are the slowest boat in the entire fleet. You are probably well aware as you keep track on the yb app. We only receive a list of positions once a day, and there have been five boats behind us every day. After a closer look on these five boats positions, they are all in Cape Verde.

Second, we thought we were running low on musli. We eat very well here on board, as the girls have done a fabulous job provisioning. However, musli is easy to eat on watch and whenever someone is hungry in-between meals (not considering all the times that the bowl of musli flies through the room cause by the continuous beating of the waves). After some treasure hunting we found alot of dry fruit and oats, saving our musli situation.

Third, the crew's mix of preferences are turning in favour of more speed. The captain, who wants the passage to be as safe as possible, not putting to much load on the rig, and preventing abrupt broaches caused by squalls, aaaaand who don't really want to sail fast because the trip will then be over sooner, is giving way for crew members who either want to sail faster because its fun and/or want to reach cold red stripe beer faster. All in all in all we have reached concensus of slightly faster but still very safe sailing.

Forth, our friends in Karayato (a catamaran!!) Are just ahead of us. Beating them to the finish is also weighing in favour of higher speed.

In other news, water and electricity is all good. We are all in good healt and everyone is sleeping more or less enough.

We hope that you are taking a long weekend and have tomorrow of.
Your forever grateful friends,
Team7steps
