Salamander - Sundowners and other friends

For me a great part of doing the ARC is meeting like-minded people. The opportunity to explore why people are doing this Rally and make new friends.

I started by following the FB posts from ARC+ and posted a comment to see if there were any ARC crew around that wanted to meet up. I was in Las Palmas a total of 5 weeks having helped deliver Salamander down early and chosen not to fly home. This resulted in me finding a great friend and we shared several drinks and meals in the run up to the start of the ARC celebrations.

I also made a real point also of saying hello to as many people as possible at the Sundowner events in the dinghy park. Again a real privilege to meet some fantastic people all with stories to share.

For me this has been a really important part of my ARC experience, immersing myself in the whole feel of the event getting ready for the all important sailing across a vast expanse of ocean!
