Risque Business - Slowly Slowly Catchy Yachty

Dawn is here and after the darkness we’re greeted with an overcast day-break. On Wednesday evening we had a good fishing day with 2 Yellowfin Tuna and a Wahoo. Seared Yellowfin for lunch yesterday and pan fried Wahoo for dinner - delicious! As promised in our last blog, the weights were: Tuna#1 was 5kg, Tuna#2 was 7.2kg and the Wahoo was 1.6kg. Now a well stocked freezer and nicely steaked fish!

Light winds still persist, so slow progress being made sadly. Had to drop the spinnaker in the middle of the night as the wind speed was too much for our ancient sail, so now running downwind with the main and poled out genoa. The wind has died again this morning and is currently 9kts and RB is making about 5.5kts, but we are heading straight for Grenada. It should pick up a little this morning so set fair with the sails we have up.

We’ve got 1,424NM still to go, so still 2 days or so to get to the midway point. The good news is that we have started to overtake some of the smaller or slower yachts in the fleet. We can’t see them, as the yachts are spread out over hundreds of miles, all making their own decisions on where best to be given the sailing conditions. We are one of the most northerly in the fleet, but having left 1.5 days after everyone else, we decided to stay close to the rhumb line and minimise the distance we have to sail. Hopefully if the wind gets going next week, we can start to hunt down a few more.

Love and light to all from the mid Atlantic Ocean.
