Skyelark 2 - First days

All aboard the Skyelark (2)

The atlantic ocean so blue
Nine fine men did set out to do
With fresh washed fruit & veg laid bare
Other crews could only stare

The boat was packed and ready
Crew dressed, life jacketed and steady
Farewells and good byes were sent
But not from the YB which was bent

The starting line we did get near
Resisting the tempatation to shout “Starboard” to keep boats clear
The wind was light not breezy
So the motor was used to make life easy

The first night Cap’n Dan did cook
From a recipe from his fine book
The first night we all did crew
From a roster Cap’n did drew

The next morning the sun did shine
Crew bright and lively from no wine
The fishing lares were set
One fish we did get

“Too small!” did shout first mate
So supper it did not make
Further fish did not avail
But better we felt for seeing a whale

The sails were set the wind did blow
Seven to eight knots we did go
Due south we did head
Before some headed for bed

During the night to our delight
Squid and plankton did shine bright
Then dolphins came out to play
Providing a fantastic display

Two days only we have been at sea
Sustained by plenty of coffee and tea
Cape Verde we do intend
To head west and make that bend

More we will write
When sun follows night
Then another member of crew
Will write of adventures a ew
