Welcome to the Classic Malts Cruise
Oban ~ Talisker ~ Lagavulin

Classic Malts CruiseThe CLASSIC MALTS Cruise is for many the 'must do' event in Scotland's sailing year... would you care to join us in 2008?

United by a passion for sailing, scenery and single malt whisky, crews embark on a 200-mile voyage through the Inner Hebrides, choosing their own route from Oban to Skye, and back south to Islay. Hospitality offered by the coastal Classic Malts distilleries of Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin provides the social focus for a relaxed fortnight of cruising. The simple formula has proved to be very successful: tremendous sailing and great fun! All crews are welcomed ashore as guests of the distilleries, for buffets, music, dancing and, of course, for a chance to meet those whose lives are spent making Scotland's finest whisky.

"Probably the most seamlessly organised sailing event I have ever been to"

Over the course of the last two weeks crews from yachts participating in the 2008 Classic Malts Cruise have been hosted to some true Scottish hospitality at each of the three coastal Classic Malts distilleries – Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin. Each evening had its own tone, reflecting perhaps the different characteristics of these fine single malts.

OBAN

Oban distillery, founded in 1794, is at the heart of Oban - the "Gateway to the Isles". Fine single malt whisky has been made here for over 200 years in one of the oldest licensed distilleries, its stills among the smallest in Scotland.

TALISKER

Talisker is the home to a powerful malt of rare distinction. Here, lodged far from any neighbour in the small coast community of Carbost at the head of Loch Harport, is one of the finest yet most remote distilleries of all.

LAGAVULIN

Lagavulin is the definitive Islay malt, from the ancestral home of the Lords of the Isles who long ago ruled much of what became Scotland
