Sookie - Daily Logs 5-10 15th May

Oops.  Sorry for the lack of logs.

This was due to "Pina coladic" brain freezes causing temporary idleness for the last few days and the arrival of Heather and Karen (mine and Andy's wives)via air to pay us a visit.

The last two days sailing into Bermuda was a mixture of mostly sailing with a little motor sailing mixed in.  The final 30 miles or so ended up being a dead downwind leg with a mix of Goose winging and gibing.  Our cruising chute took a wrap around the forestay and had to be dropped with the snuffer actually turning itself inside out at the top.  Jay and i managed to sort out the problem whilst Pip and Andy were catching a few Zz's.  We crossed the finish line at 1845 and 45seconds (local time) in fourth place overall before handicapping and engine hours were taken into account.  However we are in the same position with not a great deal of time between us and the other boats.

Bermuda customs has been the best customs experience we have had so far compared with the BVI's being the most unhelpful and belligerent.  They wouldn't even lend me a pen and I was sent off to buy one.  Bermudians are generally very friendly, polite and accommodating.  Today is our final day for preparations for setting sail tomorrow  and I promise to sent more frequent blogs from here on in.  Special hello to Pat ( Karen's mum ) and everone else following us.
