Trompeta - Tahiti Luxury!

Trompeta was hauled out of the water yesterday morning and Bob from Serendipity came along for the ride which was useful as we had an extra pair of hands when we got to the boat yard. The lift out went smoothly with no hitches and work started straight away to investigate our cracked skeg. The fibreglass surrounding the skeg was ground off and all appears to be in order so no problem evident which was a relief. We did notice a mark about 6 inches up on the rudder which we think was when a long fishing line from a Galapagos boat went uner the boat and popped out the other side but it is easily fixed with a bit of filler. So our skeg has already been re glassed and after a lick of paint she wll be good as new. The antifouling is holding up well and apart from the odd patch will not need doing again before we reach Australia.

So we checked into the Hotel Tahiti Nui yesterday lunchtime and are enjoying the comforts of one of their Junior Suites which come with kitchen and lounge and large bedroom and a real bed!! As it was Peter's birthday yesterday we had dinner in the Hotel joined by David & Caroline (Peat Smoke) and Lew & Corinne with girls Audrey & Kathryn (Brizo). Dinner was excellent if a little expensive but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. Caroline had bought some flashing garlands and helium baloons which were hugely popular with the Brizo girls.

Funnily enough David & Caroline are also staying in the same hotel and have the adjacent suite to us so it is drinks on our balcony tonight!!

Expect that Trompeta will be put back in the water first thing Monday so we will head back to Marina Taina to fuel up and provision at Carrefour.
