Welcome again to our blog update, after such a great
start it's frustrating to report that for the last 400 miles we have lost all
wind and had to continue under engine. There is a feeling on board that we have
been cheated by not been able to claim that we sailed the complete race. I think
we all want to get in and maybe have a relaxing shandy or two. Our best estimate
on finishing the race is about 20.00 and then we have all the documentation to
complete so could be a late night.
We haven't seen another boat for four days now and as we
calculate that we have less than 60 miles to do I find it very suprising. We
have just passed within42 miles of Barbados but couldn't see anything was
sun was in our eyes.
We have at last has a visit from 12 dolphins who stayed
with us for a good 15 minutes, they are so graceful and relaxing to watch. The
night before Neil was sleeping in the saloon with the hatch open 2 inches when a
flying fish managed the high jump and landed on the couch, bit of a fright at
3o'clock in the morning in the complete dark. Tim J has also been smacked in the
face by flying fish whilst on watch, I think there looking for revenge for the
edible fish we have taken.
Yesterday was play day having TJ lowered into the water
of the spinnaker haliyard and then have him climb the mast to take a few photos.
It would appear that the photos we have attached haven't come through so not
sure whats happening but at least we have originals to keep and show around
on our return. Will try to attach another to this blog.
On to the last remnants of food today so another reason
to get into ST Lucia, not sure what Rob is going to cook for lunch/dinner but
I'm sure we wont be disapointed.
On behalf of the crew I hope you have enjoyed following
our progress, pity about the last day.
