This morning finds us ghosting along
in 7-8 knots of breeze on a very hot and sunny Atlantic.
We made slow but
steady progress throughout the night and well done to all of the crew who
kept the boat moving well in the light conditions. In these light winds it
is important to do everything smoothly, from movements of the wheel, moving
around the boat and trimming sails with the idea being not to disrupt the
air flow through the sails and allow the boat to create some of
its own
apparent wind to keep us moving.
We are still expecting the wind to die
completely on us sometime today so all we can do is keep the boat sailing as
fast as possible in the right direction and see what happens. If the wind
dies we will then have to wait for it to fill in again which looks like it
might be from the north east and continue our final miles, so we are still
no closer to an accurate eta unfortunately.
Late yesterday afternoon we
finally heard the fishing rod go and thankfully due to the slower boat
speeds were able to hold onto our catch and successfully land it. Everyone
was pleased that after a mere 15 days we had finally caught our first
fish!!!! It was a fairly good sized tuna and meant that after a little sushi
we were able to get 7 tuna steaks out of it for dinner and as always there
is nothing better than freshly caught tuna! We are now of course all fishing
pros and eagerly awaiting our next catch which
on our current rate we are
predicting sometime about 2 weeks from now in a beach bar of some
description!!!
Anyways hopefully there will only be another one or two blogs
from us and tomorrows will probably have a more accurate eta as with 160
miles left to go it should be about 30 hours but as we all know you can't
control the weather!
Hope everyone is well and catch you soon
