Engelen - Weblog Engelen no 15

We have set the clock: to be honest, our own clock. We are lost and "stuck into the middle" regarding our awareness of time between the GMT on Gran Canaria and the actual time on St Lucia. So, as being a small self support entity on this huge ocean with it's own rules, regulations, punishments, court, parliament etc we do need to have our own timetable as well. So we have set our time: it is Monday Dec 5th, 15:53. Back home my sons have received - I hope - some nice presents from Santa Klaus last night. But Thanksfully this old chap did not forget a tiny little boat on the Ocean. Don't ask me how but he have send us some chocolate and mices. Indeed, besides the cockroach we now have a whole bums of mice aboard. Mathew is not happy, but they tasted well. For this special day I have made a whole pile of pancakes for the crew, which were highly appreciated. Especially when you know the temp's are around 34 degrees in the cabin, before making the pancakes. Since words never can be better compensated than by a good beer, I reckon, the whole crew will keep me free from buying beer once arrived at St Lucia. I dearly looking forward getting there ;-)

The sun is something we are longing for but can be harmful as well. Mathew, our captain, is now on duty and tries to steer Engelen straight to St Lucia. But, we are all a bit worried for him since he is now trying to sing while listening to his Ipod. And I can assure you, the mice do have filed some serious complaints at our "Engelen Court" about this eager singing.

Another moment of celebration this afternoon: we will entering the 500nm zone from St Lucia. That means that we will have our third celebration a board of Engelen since our departure. Wow, looking forward to a very cold beer around 6pm (of course local time).

Since the position report of the ARC Committee today was the same as the one of yesterday, we have defined now our own goals for the remaining days to St Lucia. We gybed at 2pm local time and are now in competition with Clearlake II. The nice guys where next to us on Gran Canaria and are now more up north of us, as well heading for St Lucia. With a bit of luck and expected wind change to the South (South West) this will be in our favour. What should it be a gentlemens statement if we can help them mooring once arrived at St Lucia.

Regards from Engelen
