Hi everybody
Firstly thank you for all the messages of support there
always welcome.
All the crew are good, all injuries have cleared up and
now are thoughts are turning to Rodney Bay, land no motion, proper showers and
of course rum punch.
We are getting conflicting info on our position, the
messages from home indicate we are about 50th yet the daily reports we receive
show us 85th so I guess one lot of figures maybe exclude the racers so will just
wait until we get into St Lucia. Whatever I think we are all very pleased with
the performance to date. Having reviewed the weather today we feel we are well
placed for a good run into St Lucia providing there are no further wind
shifts.
In the last blog I said mother nature was been kind to
us but the last two days she has certainly flexed her muscles with squalls and
wind variations form 15 knots to 40. This has lead to some interesting sail
changes especially for those on the foredeck. We have had jib sheets snap which
at night is all the more frightening. We have tried all but two of our
sails so far and the picture attached is of two poled out headsails ,with
the wind coming directly over our stern. We are presently hurtling along at
9.5 knots with bow wave coming over the saloon portholes. We have recorded 17
knots at one point yesterday.
We have another problem with our generator so that's
this afternoons job. Food lasting well enough although we are having meat twice
a day to use up defrosting bags. Salad and fresh vegetables just about at end
and beef stew getting a little to regular, role on the Islands and fresh
fish and fruit. We did have a lovely beef roast dinner night before last and
followed by steak and ale pie last night.
Still no boats to see just sea, waves and a few flying
fish. Nothing to report on the fishing front as were going so fast and on that
note we will close will give further update on Sunday.
Best wishes to everybody that's reading the
blogs.
