FROM LAGOS TO FUNCHAL
DISTANCE 489 nm TIME 93 hr SPEED 5.25 kn
Apart from a 9 hour lull on the second day and the last hour, we sailed all the way predominately in F 4-6 and generally pleasant weather. First afternoon dozens of dolphins played around the boat and set off the shallow alarm a number of times in 100m of water. Had to partially dismantle and repair the Neptune the first evening because the main bolt holding the tower upright had worked loose allowing the paddle to go too far to starboard. We had to disconnect and straighten the con rod which had been buckled and somehow managed to do so without dropping any of the nuts and bolts.

FROM FUNCHAL MADEIRA TO LANZAROTE
DISTANCE 261.2 nm TIME 50 hr SPEED 5.2 kn
Motored for 7 hours to find some breeze . We then sailed t he rest of the way in F3-6. Moonless night where stargazing was attempted.

FROM LANZAROTE TO LAS PALMAS
DISTANCE 83.4 TIME 17 hr SPEED 4.9 kn
Flukey winds which appeared to be onshore near the island and in the opposite direction to the prevailing north easterlies until well clear of the island . We then sailed under genoa the rest of the way. Whale sighted in the evening and had our first flying fish in the cockpit.
