Blonde Moment - wed 25 log 3

Yes were still here and sailing downwind in sunshine and fair  force 5 and 6’s e     - we are now at 22-08 N by 022-30W steering 255 T

We are now getting into a routine at sea and one day is pretty much like the rest (only been at sea three days!) with a morning of busy busy activity ( making bread) and relaxation in the afternoon This morning started with some medical attention to Christine’s hand which she hurt yesterday – we think it was a plan to get out of the cooking and washing up!

By 9:00 am  we decided to put in a gibe and with at poled out headsail,  preventer on the main and quite lumpy seas 3(3-4m swell)the whole operation took plenty of planning – however I am not sure why we bothered as it was a comedy of errors.

First due to helm / autopilot error we ended up stuck head to wind – we were sailing down wind so bit of a problem there!

Second we lost the spinnaker halyard up the mast so the skipper “volunteered” to go up the mast and get it (no other volunteers came forward and who can blame them in a force 6!!!)
We finally completed the gibe about 2 hours later!!

We still continue to try and catch a fish and have all the gear but not much idea – in saying that other yachts we speak to don’t seem to have done any better.

Also strange that we haven’t seen another yacht for over 24 hours so we hope were going the right way!

Sue is busy learning Spanish as she is continuing on her travels after this adventure. Steve has been busy in the kitchen and putting sails up and down as well as teaching knots.

Tom now seems to be recovering from his dehydration and is back to his normal self of eating and sleeping ..... an oh yes more sleeping and eating and sleeping....! The shifts seem to be working well with 3 hours on and 6 off and although sleep is sometimes difficult everyone is getting on fine – Will update again in a couple of days but please feel free to drop us an email  and in the subject put the crew member. Thanks to those who are already doing so.

Cheers and love to all our friends and families

The Crew x
