This is the first of our logs via the world cruising club. We are west of the Cape Verde islands having come south in the hope of finding good winds as indicated by both forecasts and grib files. It has been a painfully slow route without a light wind sail we all wish for at least a cruising chute! Having made south we are still in light winds and making aroung 4.5kts and are a little frustrated.
Compensations are dinner on deck (steak and roast vegetables last night)and an easy motion...
The pleasures of sailing in these parts are the shoals of flying fish with irandescent wings, the dolphins playing around the boat and until now the seabirds including an egret lost 20 miles of the Cape Verde islands. All this is set against a background of deep blue seas and brilliant sunshine apart from yesterday.
At night we are treated to the stars without light polution.
The primitive hand line is out again and we hope to continue to catch fish.
Weather is fantastic so the tans are coming on.
