Pikorua - Day 2 Reparations (English/German)

Reparatur.

Heute erfolgreiche Reparatur des Gennakerfalls. Dazu musste ein Mann ein neues Fall im Masttop einscheren. Bei abnehmenden Wind sind wir Richtung Süden unterwegs. Unterwegs sehen wir erstmals Delphine und einen Wal. Nach dem der Wind abgeflaut hat, entscheiden wir uns ein paar Meilen unter Motor zu fahren und müssen nachts feststellen, dass wir ein Problem mit der Antriebswelle haben ? alles deutet auf einen Verlust des Faltpropellers hin.


The repair. So, with a new day and lighter winds, somebody has to head up the mast to replace the broken halyard. This job goes to Wally! The main is taken down and he is hoisted to the top of the swinging mast to do the job. With the halyard back in place we hoist the main sail and again the gennaker and start making good progress. That day we see a whale and have dophins swimming with us during the night. During the night light winds cause us to turn on the engine but we find no propulsion in either forward or reverse. Another day another problem.
