Chilli Oyster - My first 3 days at sea - by Indy Sparkes

Day 1
Today was quite nerve racking as it was the day we started to do 18 days at sea non-stop. We got prepared and did the last few things then had a crew photo for the ARC - Oyster magazine. When we were finished getting ready we said our goodbys to Nanny & gramps and Marg, our crew mates wife, it was all very dramatic as there were lots of tears. We went out of the marina with people waving and cheering and then all we could see was baots, then a horn beeped and we set off, we had nanny's spaghetti bolognaise, then I went to bed at sea.

My thoughts for the day - the best feeling in the world although nervous.

Day2
I woke up at 9.30. Mom and Dad were awake and Sam & dave were just going for a snooze, Jordan was asleep in the salon so I tried to be quiet. I had my cereal, cleaned my face and brushed my teeth then got dressed ready for the sunshine. At 1.30 everone was up including Jordan, I watched with Mum until 3pm then we all had a snack (late lunch) then we were all up on deck chatting and sunbathing etc. (Molly our dog was fine). Then suddenly out of nowhere a load of about 25-30 dolphins turned up - it was such fun. Then we had tea, I watched a movie and went to bed.

My thoughts for the day - excited

Day3
Today I woke up at 8.30, it was so calm almost too calm. There was sunlight beaming all over the flat sea but although it was peaceful it was annoying because there was no wind. We had had to motor a lot in the night. By 11.30 we eventually had more than 4 knots and everyone was awake so Mom cooked us all omelettes, then at 1pm Dad was fiddling with the spinnaker whilst I made lunch, a greek dals, a cheese and meet selection. Later in the afternoon a pod of over 100 dolphins came by and earlier we had seen the fin of a whale. At 7.30 I had my tea and now I am going to do my first watch until 11.

My thoughts for the day - excited because of seeing amazing mammals in the great ocean upon us!
