Coyote - Coyote Log Day 2

Boat - Coyote - Beneteau - First 40.7
Crew: Ken, Bob, Jaime, Julien, Yacine, Carlo, Francis

We started in Las Palmas with a perfect breeze of 15/20 knots and spinnaker up until late in the day. We then switched to a poled genoa for the night. We took the early option to go find the trade winds in the south with most of the fleet on our starboard side taking a more direct route. For our first dinner at sea, French cooks Yacine and Julien prepared a delicious ratatouille with rice. We cooked a bit too late to eat in daylight. Dish washing in 2 meters waves by night proved to be a challenge. After 24 hours at sea we logged 150 miles and a top speed of 11.5 knots. In the morning of day 2 we saw dolphins and a shark. Carlo tried feeding it with no luck... We spent most of the day very close to an Oyster 65 also doing the ARC on the south route. We started fishing too with no luck so far. With the wind dying in the afternoon we did mot make much progress during the day. The wind start blowing again in the evening which allowed us to log some miles at night at about 5 knots with 10 knots of wind. Jamie and Bob cooked our second dinner, Italian pasta bolognaise, under the supervision of Carlo. With the sun coming up at 6 am this morning on day 3 we put the spinnaker back up and we are not enjoying a very sunny day at a speed of 5.5 knots... We wish for more wind during the day and potentially a fish on the line Still 2561 miles to go...

Anecdotes:
We were passed by a boat that gently announced itself on the VHF by saying they would toast us while passing by. Very nice English sense of humour:).. In a sea as wide as the Atlantic, they almost managed to cut our fishing line. That's a good sign! People on bigger boats would do anything to copy our strategy:) ha-ha, this is French arrogance...
We have a problem with the Jacuzzi, any one would know how to fix the bubble propeller?

Personal message:
Anna, I am reading all these books from Marc Dugain. It is really entertaining! We are enjoying this trip very much with the international crew. The space is too small here for any running or tennis. So we try some random yoga whenever the space left allows:) Beso. Take care
Brooke, hope you made it safely to LA and everything is fine out there. Did you get my new kite yet? How is grandma? Bisous, Julien.
Nicky and Megan I hope all is well, how is nick's mum? we could do with a bit more wind for a 13th finish! love Jaime.
