Disco Inferno 3 - Day 1, the first 24 hours

Boat position - 25' 55.1N 016' 54.6W

Boat time - 1110

Heading - 215

Boat Speed - 8.8knots

Wind speed - 13.8knots Direction - 060

Sail setup - Spinnaker and full mainsail

Miles to go - 2570

At sundown last night we took down the spinnaker and put the genoa on the pole, better safe than sorry! As It turned out it was a calm night and everyone slept well, at sunrise this morning the guys put in a gybe and hoisted the spinnaker again. Disco seems to be quite effortlessly averaging 8 knots, the wind has built slightly over the last few hours, when I got up at 8am the wind was dropping down to 10knots at times but the lowest we've seen for a while is 12knots.

In the night we could see lots of yacht lights around us but now we can only see 3, it will be interesting to see how many come out of the darkness tonight. We are only 125 miles off the African coast, so possibly still a chance we might see refugees trying to reach the Canaries but hopefully not.

That's all for now, stay classy and thanks for stopping by

Lizzie
