Flying Duckman - Day 1, The Flight is Going Well

Hi All (All two of you!)

After a relitively uneventfull start, when only one yacht hit us (it is correct, the Dutch do do port & starboard the other way around to every one else!).  We are now heading South to warmer climes and to shed our winter down.  We don't want to give away our position or course to anyone, especially the other three Oyster 655s, as we are convinced it is the fastest route to St Lucia.

In case you don't known the highly skilled and motivated crew we have onboard, here is the names of the crew of six ugly ducklings and one beautiful swan.  John Peking Duck, Mark Rubber Duck, Mike Crispy Duck, Charles What's Up Duck, Chris Duck Bill, Jens Daffy Duck (the skipper) and finally the beautiful swan An Whooper Swan.

If you received our first blog you may have noticed that there has been a name changing ceremomy due to recent events, maybe more later.  Over the next 7 days, in the time it will take us to reach St Lucia, each day we will provide a profile of each crew member.  Today is Chris, Duck Bill;

Duck Bill is very appropriate as he is the one that pays all the bills.  His prefered title is Admiral, but this receives little support from the so called team members.  His career incuded being a failed shoe salesman, a failed engineer and more recently succeeded in aquiring an Oyster, but has an obvious desire to try and sink it on start lines whilst approching  the committee boat flat out, much to the dismay of the skipper.  Anyway enough of him.

Prior to departute Flying Duckman had decided that she did not want to leave Las Palmas and all those wonderful people who kept hopping onboard for a G & T.  She had a sneaky plan, she layed out 200 meters of anchor chain and wrapped the anchor around every available slime line.  The determination of the crew and a jolly decent diver chap, ensured we where at the start line on time, even a little early!

More tomorrow as I have to get back to watching Whooper bake wonderful fresh bread.

Signing out for now, the crew of FD.
