Hellooo!!
We are Zephyr a Hallberg-Rassy with four crew. Two Brits, myself Sarah (21, only female on board and the youngest too!), Dave (50, my dad and also Skipper) and two German chaps Hans (57) and Wolfgang (62). Rivalry between the two countries started already, especially after we beat them in the football earlier this week!!
Arrived finally in Las Palmas from Madeira 10 days ago and were welcomed by lovely people and a few free drinks at happy hour at the ARC bar…nothing like starting the week as you plan to carry on!
Preparations in the last week and a half have been a little hectic, a never ending list of jobs to do and things to sort out as well as seminars to go to. The jobs have been important, preparing food provisions for the trip, decisions on the route we are taking across the Atlantic, sorting out the down wind sailing equipment and so forth. The seminars have been very good, the weather seminar was interesting and the mention of no hurricane warnings was a bonus! Other seminars included emergency power, first aid etc. On the Monday night a crew supper for all boats was organised, a good night had a good time and met some nice people despite feeling a little delicate the next morning!
