Sunbeat VI - Day 16 - the sun shines on the righteous

Progress was better today than we had anticipated, since winds were stronger than forecast. This helped to make up for 3 heavy squalls last night, which involved lots of wind from all sorts of directions and lots of rain. The worst thing about these squalls is that, after they have passed, the wind dies completely for 1 - 2 hours before it builds again.

Over the last 24 hours, due to the varied conditions, the full wardrobe of 6 sails has been put to good use. Including the code zero, which was used for the first time today, as the wind moved round to the south.

Steve has officially hung up his fishing boots, on the basis that sustainable fishing wasn’t very interesting. Having trailed 2 lines for over 2500 miles, we have not caught a single fish. We have, however, caught lots and lots of weed, which seems to be a lot more prolific this year. The others are carrying on in the naive hope of catching something - particularly since our supplies of fresh meat are starting to run low.
