Tilda - End of an incredible journey 2/2

Second part of our impressions and feelings.

Matteo, our jolly in every role of the boat, the perfect generous mate for a journey like the ARC: “Some 25 years apart, it comes this second crossing, very different. Back then, there was a boy, his dreams and the adventure. Today I found new friends for daylight shifts and night shifts full of thoughts, reflections about life, my loved ones, what I could have done better and what I hope to improve.
It has been a beautiful journey on the sea and an unexpected opportunity for self critics about my “ego”.

Alessandra surprised everyone with her positive energy. “Since years I was dreaming the crossing of the Atlantic. Finally I made it. The project, the challenge, they became reality together with a “strange group of strangers”. Being so many days on waters has meant to me being in contact with myself and with something bigger than all of us. This experience has been sometimes fatiguing but extraordinary unique and complete. The biggest effort? Being so far away from my sons…”

João was not at his first Atlantic crossing, but every time is different. Here his comments
“An opportunity to get away from the reflections and issues of my land-life. To live with the elements: sun, moon, stars, clouds, water, white cupped waves, falling stars and the deep deep blue. Feeling trapped in an infinite journey in a starred night, the immensity of the universe makes me think about unknown forces that can mean endless life and the life options that made me what I am today”.

Finally, my turn: Francy. “I knew the ARC was going to be tough, but I didn’t expect something so physically exhausting, especially the night shifts shaken by squalls and very little rest to recover. But it had been amazing feeling so little in the immensity of the blue space. I feel very thankful to have shared this experience with the Tildamigos, a bunch of good fellows from different countries, speaking different languages, with a strong common link: love for sailing!
Thank you mates for the sense of comraderie that gave me strength when energies were low and for the many crazy/funny moments that will last forever in our memories.
Last but not least, thank you Captain Fabri for having chosen Tilda some years ago and prepared her accurately. Without your perseverance, my lifelong dream of crossing the Atlantic wouldn’t have become true!”

Los Tildamigos will post updates about the last miles of the ARC. Stay tuned!
