Sweet Dream - Day 61 March 15, 2019

The morning comes late. Each day that we move west, the morning takes longer to catch up with us. We had a nice night of living a Leon Bridge’s song, (Smooth Sailin’), then when the day finally arrived it wore a heavy cloak of grey clouds and brought a sluggish wind. Boat calathswinics...pole up, sails out. Sails down, pole down, sails out, sails in, motor on, sail out, motor off, both sails out.....all in an effort to find the downwind sweet spot. No projects done today. We were lucky to get clean linen on the leeberth bunk, a pan of brownies baked, and some of the dust knocked off the salon surfaces. The highlight of the day was finishing Hemingway’s Farewell to Arms. Ach...so sad yet beautiful. Lars read it last week, I finished it today, we had a snack and sat in the cockpit having a lovely discussion about the book. In the evening I went into the aft head to take a shower and found that a flying fish had come through the port hole.
I could see where it hit the opposite wall, landed by the sink, and wore its self out on the counter. It is amazing how much mess one six inch fish can produce! Not to mention the fragrance! Ha! Never a dull moment on the Sweet Dream!
