Annabella - Log 11 - Friday 6th Dec

Position 16 33.285N
36 41.1 W

Distance to St Lucia: 1408NM (just like 2 Round Irelands)
Distance since last blog: 146NM

Wind was 7 - 10 knots since late afternoon yesterday until about 0600 this morning. During that time we managed up to 8.5 knots of boat speed at times heading almost directly to St Lucia using spinny and main. Our intention was to head south for about 60 miles to catch better wind, but when the opportunity arose to bag some westing it was irresistable. We are now back down to 5-6 knots and heading further south. We understand that the winds in the north have decreased.

We now know that some of you have been commenting on our blog on the ARC website thanks to Joe. It's great to get the feedback and as a result we may be able to make our own yoghurt (thanks John). Getting close to the end of the eggs now so any suggestions about making our own will be investigated.

No fish caught yesterday so it was back to Peter's omlette. Conor had to make the omlette because peter pulled a muscle in his back during his pilates session doing the side plank. We'll have to be more careful when working out on board. Lamb in spices and almond sauce (without the almonds) is on the menu this evening. In case anyone might think that we have livestock on the boat, the meat is frozen. I have to say that there were a few conversations prior to departure about the potential benefits of such a strategy, but alcohol was involved.

We are optimistic that we will get better wind today so hopefully we will be able to report better progress towards out St Lucia tomorrow.

I see yesterday's blog didn't go so you may be reading the two together. The boys reckon we should send an apology to Bryan Dobson for missing our report for the 6:01 news.

Until tomorrow.
