Golondrina - Monday - Another quiet day at sea

So what's the difference between sailing really fast and being totally out of control? It's a fine line and today Hartshorn has been renamed 'Rodeo' Dave. For the non-sailors amongst you - when there's TOO much wind and TOO much sail up the boat 'rounds up' into the wind and everything shakes itself to bits, even the tinsel round the chart table.   So 'Rodeo' Dave has become the rootinest, tootinest cowboy this side of the Carribean  with his round ‘em up-skills.  So kids, when you want the wildest cowboy in town just call for 'Rodeo' Dave and you’re welcome to join him! And just for extra entertainment make sure you let Rodeo have the helm at 3 in the morning when it's pouring with rain and everyone else is asleep cos that's when it's most fun.   'All hands on deck' was the cry, and one we would have responded too had the round up not caused one member to have been buried under 6 kit bags and Mark having to cut short a facial.... Hi Ho silver........

Then later on this morning, he then decided to wrap the entire spinnaker around the foresail disturbing Mark, who was interrupted during an eye brow plucking session. He didn't actually say anything, but if looks could kill...   At this point Rodeo changed from wet clothes to, well nothing really, apart from a life jacket and a pair of sandals and so the look of disgust turned to one of laughter!

Now let's talk about Mark - our resident alpha male - he's in touch with his feminine side, has clean fingernails, cries at sad songs  and can make a Victoria sponge at sea. It seems he now has a fan club - Non gender specific - now that's a modern man !

And carrots!  Bet we're the only boat to blog about carrots.  In our back annual of blogs you will see some extreme carrot wrapping to preserve their age at sea.   Does it work I hear you cry?  Well NO, not at least on this boat, is the answer and today we jettisoned numerous green mildew specimens overboard. Even the dolphins wouldn't touch them!

As for Gareth, he sat back this evening, singing to  Andy Williams, wondering how he managed to gather such a collection of clowns and how on earth we got this far.

As night falls, we find ourselves accelerating towards the sun at extreme speeds. With Mark and Stu taking the lead, the final 782 miles should start whittling down quickly
