Miramar - Half Way

The Miramar and it its crew have been at sea now for 7 days. The shifts have made us weary and a little cranky at times, but overall we have been enjoying the trip. Some days are better than others of course. One of the less fabulous days saw us motoring against weather. The bouncing had most of the crew sea sick and despondent.

Yesterday was one of the best of days. We started off the morning by catching 2 beautiful Mahi Mahi. Pancakes were prepared as Bill cleaned the fish. We started with pancakes and finished the day with fish tacos. The day was hot enough that we all switched to shorts and every member in the crew got a warm shower on the bow. The weather has slowly increased in warmth and humidity as we have progressed, and for several days now the ocean has been unbelievably deep and astoundingly blue.

Every night we are treated to shooting stars and phosphorescent plankton in our wake. We are in the swing of things here and we figure that we are still a week away from Tortola. Here’s hoping for perfect winds and arriving before Thanksgiving day.

- Jamie, First Mate of the S/V Miramar
