Morgane of Sark - log Morgane of Sark

Hi, here an early morning update of the Morgane of Sark. It’s Saterday 05:25 and it has gotten busy around us. We count 14 boats in our neighborhood on the AIS and one (Mystique) is right beside us. Clearly getting closer to Mindelo.

We do use the engine now for almost 3 hours. The wind disappeared and we were rocking side to side, but not moving much forward anymore.

Leaving Las Palmas, we had a bit of a problem with the cooling water, even though we had a precautionary extra maintenance service of the engine in Las Palmas. Unfortunately, when we started the motor tonight, no cooling water was coming out.. Bummer…

So, Herco had to crawl into the engine room in the middle of the night to fix it. He put water in the hoses of the cooling system. For some reason it was not sucking up water externally when we just have started the motor. But our hero fixed it, and when we tried it again,
water was pumped out at the back of the boat again. We keep a close eye on the temperature of the engine and won’t put too much pressure on the engine. 1800 at the max. But, so far so good… all seems to be functioning right.

Furthermore it’s another beautiful starry night.

Current position N 17 37.70 W 24 13.50
Windspeed is 3-4 knots and we have a speed over ground of 6,5 knots.

We have sailed 790 miles since we left Las Palmas.
