Bristolian - Day 9: My old man said patch up the vang, and don't dilly dally on the way

It seems that hitting the gybe button has a variety of repercussions.  A starboard tack such as that we've been on all day  is good for cooking as you are leaning against the right side of the galley, and is currently also good for improving our position. On the other hand its poor for washing up (galley layout again), staying in my normal bunk and not rolling on the floor, and most importantly, internet access.

I'm currently preparing this offline in case we do a quick tack to allow the powers that be to pick up a weather forecast, in which case I will try and get this uploaded at the same time. If not, I have plenty of time to waste....

Sailing-wise, the vang (giant piston that sits under the boom and is used I'm told for manipulation of the large flappy thing) developed a crack which the dynamic duo of Paddy and Lachie soon patched.  Nothing to serious they say. Otherwise we've been making steady progress in roughly the right direction.

Reached halfway across sometime during the night.  There was some discussion surrounding dipping into a cold tinny, but resolve to remain dry persisted.

Dominoes school today, and modesty forbids me to say who won, HAHA!

Menu cette soir: Chicken Jambalya. Bianca prepared some very nice BLTs for lunch.

Otherwise a pretty quiet day - folks are beginning to think "Are we nearly there yet" even if they don't vocalise it (ETA currently about a weeks time, Petit Pierre looking favourite for the arrival time sweepstake). Day for sitting around in the sun and admiring the rather special scenery

UPDATE 2.45 am. Just off watch with Mr Big and Lucky Lachie. He saw an exploding shooting star, and we also saw an arc competitor for the first time in a week, doing the opposite tack to us. Also relieved to see interweb back on so will post this. Bit late to wake up "Snapper" Ali so will save his latest composition for tomorrow (today?)
