After our great start it all went a bit slower, and
we were overtaken by several boats who all opted to go pretty much
downwind, we went a bit higher, but all we were doing was losing ground and
distance to the finish, so we put up the spinnaker pole and went wing on
wing. For those not in the know, this is having the
mainsail (biggest white flappy thing at back) on one side and the genao (second
biggest white flappy thing at front) on the
other side with the pole attached to the free corner, with the wind nearly dead
behind, some do go with it 180 deg behind but that can lead to problems, we try
for about 160 to 165 degrees which is much safer.
Our dinner was a salad with pork pie, none of us
felt too hungry, but it went down well.
Overnight was great 18 to 23 knots, just as Chris
Tibbs predicted and from the ENE, and in the last 24 hours we have done
approx 200 nautical miles, which in a car is dead slow, but in a sailing
vessel pretty good, 200 is our target so happy with that..
Stella has just baked some bread, which smelt
great.
Next blog sometime soon,
