Today was a busy day in the World ARC programme in Tahiti. The events began with a cruising briefing about ‘Sailing in the Society Islands’. This was delivered by Stephanie Betz from the Archipelagos sailing organisation. Stephanie went over the navigation charts in detail from Tahiti to Bora Bora, providing invaluable tips of where to anchor and ‘what to do and see’ in each of these islands.
The yachts are berthed in Tahiti at both the out of town Marina Taina and the downtown Papeete Yacht Dock. Today was a great day for all the crews to ensemble together and catch up with one another about their free cruising experiences during the last few weeks.
In the evening, the group was led by Tahitian musicians playing their ukuleles through the town to the Town Hall where we were met by representative of the Port Authority and Tahiti Tourism. The crews were served a welcome drink and prizes were presented for Leg 3 of the Rally.
As always, there were prizes for those achieving good positions in the competition but also for those who submitted logs and correctly guessed the fun quizzes of the last leg. To check the results please click here.
It was a wonderful evening and a great chance to catch up on a splendid time in French Polynesia.
