Hello everyone!
Well, we are certainly eating up the miles today. We haven’t
been under 9knts all day! We keep telling ourselves, only a Fastnet and the
delivery back to go! We have been reaching most of the day which makes it feel
as though we are going even faster. After a lighter patch last night the wind
is back up to a steady 13knts and due to increase this evening and through till
we get to St. Lucia. All those boats North of us are now getting into that
light patch we have been trying to avoid this whole time so hopefully we should
cover some ground against them in the next few days. We have had lots of sail
changes today and we really are getting pretty slick at them now! Derek likes
to keep us busy you see. No idle bodies on this boat that’s for sure.
Derek has been carrying out his daily routine of oiling the
steering wheels. I know he likes to think it’s helping but having to oil
them every day is surely a sign that it isn’t. It’s very weird because
you are trying to sleep and these little voices keep calling your name and
talking to you. Half the time you think someone is calling your name to get you
up ready for your watch. The oddest thing one of the voices has said to me is “Alison,
get me a banana”. During the delivery down to the Canaries it was like
they were having a full blown conversation with you so when we got to Las Palmas,
Rich took all the steering apart and cleaned and re-greased and re-oiled
and they still squeaked. I think it’s something we are going to have to
live with!
Sandra was a very happy bunny this morning as she had
cleaned the kitchen, the bathroom, the fridge and cleaned out all of the Tupperware.
She does love her Tupperware pots!
Everyone is now craving that rum punch and those ribs in
spinnakers, so St. Lucia, here we come!
