Puddle Jumper - almost there
Hi All.
So near yet so far.
Progress the last few days has been slower than we would like due to
combination of wind direction & quite high seas. At last we are beginning to
see a few more boats & we had 3 near last night one of whom we had to take
avoiding action as he should have given way to us but didnt. It is still a
strange sensation sailing through the night with no moon visible & plenty of
clouds & sometimes in sheet rain with only the AIS navigation screen being
able to warn you of whats around.
Wind in difficult direction today & we are having to sail off course
which is frustrating so near to our destination but should be OK for us
tomorrow. Making the most of heavy rain showers in the squals to try to shower
ourselves I think we all appear alright. Cooking for John & myself still not
easiest job in these conditions but we are not madly hungry so I think there
will be a lot of food unused at the end. Water working out fine Richard the
water monitor constantly refilling the bottles. Navigation by Hansel is proving
very accurate & Will Mc sailing knowledge has been invaluable. Skipper is
keeping us all in order & as only 8 Gruffaloes have been handed out we
are all getting on OK.
We have just had a message from the girls that the bars in Rodney Bay where
we are finishing are open 24/7. After 16 days without I think we may be
tempted!!!!
As it rained last night I did not sleep on deck, I know we are all looking
forward to a good nights sleep.
Hopefully we may arrive Thursday am (ish-Nav) but we are sure even if it is
6 am we will have a welcoming committee!!! We will keep you advised the nearer
we get.
Thats all from me.
Charles
