Lomvi - Day 1 - "I have been looking for freedom

We also left our home town, but contrary to David, we found freedom! Out here in the big blue pool is where we finally feel like home. No surprise you might think as our great great great great alot of great grandparents once lives right here in the ocean.

Starting of the rally was like a menu with only desserts. We have no expectations of winning this race, but we managed to cross the starting line as maybe boat number 7 or 8. Calm winds as we wave Gran Canaria and Europe goodbye!

Three hours in, and we are in the epicentre of adventure. Slashing waves with a gentle breeze in the genaker. Genaker sailing all day. Flying genaker is probably peak existence, and unless you have successfully quit heroine, we recommend you think twice before you start genaker sailing, as it will lead to a lifelong addiction to sunny downwind sailing.

First night was easy. Wind picked up and we sailed comfortably with a reefed genoa. Several boat overtook us, and we are currently among the slowest boats, just like we want to be.

In other news, the navigation lights went dark. But that was a light(!) and gentle job for our on board electrician. Light are up and running again, and Lomvi is back from being that weird boat far out in the ocean with deck lights on for visibility.

Our accredited chef is keeping the moral up with one gastronomical surprise after the other.

Super crew Marvelous is on top of any task in dire need of attention, which is mostly related to fine tuning the sails. Boat is heavier than usual with all the supplies, and as we will sail 24/7 for weeks now, we are trying to treat our rigg with gentle care.

Youngest crewmember Hjalmar aged three years and seven legos is enjoying being back on the ocean. No more hot concrete playgrounds, only ocean roller coaster fun.
